A note from the director:
The Strongest Branch is a story about Mathew, a troubled young man who has had to deal with bullying, bad relationships, and depression his whole life. His confidant and best friend Dana has been with him every step of the way but she has been unable to help Mathew see life in a positive light. Mathew finally reaches the end of his journey when he decides to take his life. The story was originally inspired by the suicide death of a son of a friend in 2019. Her social media post after his death was the foundation for the entire script. Another friend also lost her father to suicide in December 2018 and her account of the events that lead up to his death helped to add structure and emotion to the script. I hope this film will help those in need to reach out to someone, anyone, who can help them out of the dark hole that can lead to suicide. "For some moments in life, there are no words".
